Darfur

Darfur

So far, what I have read about Darfur, you guys are in desperate need of help. Darfur has had a bad environment, famine, and a low society. The citizens are dying at a rapid pace. If this should continue, their civilization will eventually run out. This horrible series of events has been happening since 2003. Children are abandoned, their Peace Keepers has been cut out of their programs, even when they needed it most. Nearly 200 thousand have died. People are killing others even people just because of their race.

“In the meantime, more than 2m people are living in camps after fleeing more than four years of fighting in the region and they are vulnerable without peacekeepers.”

I am sure disappointed to hear this. I cannot believe that 2 million citizens are living in tents. I believe this is an important quote because this basically summarizes what is going on it Darfur.

“The conflict began in the arid and impoverished region early in 2003 after a rebel group began attacking government targets, saying the region was being neglected by Khartoum.”

Wow. This is quite different than anything I have ever heard before. I am amazed on how far this conflict would go.

“Millions have fled their destroyed villages, with some 2m in camps near Darfur’s main towns. But there is not enough food, water or medicine.”

Incredible. I have not seen a disaster like this since the 9/11 attack in Manhattan.

“They spoke of toddlers being brunt alive in villages as men on horseback razed their houses to the ground; of women being raped as they fled their homes looking for safety in the early stages of conflict. At night people said they still found it hard to sleep-terrified of being killed while in their beds.” This quote was from Amber Henshaw in the BBC newsletter. As soon as I read this, I was shocked to hear how people are being terrified of this conflict, even in their sleep.

I admire so much on how people are trying to support Darfur and I encourage others to do the same. Please help them.
